In the previous model year debuted a brand new version of the 911 with nine versions: Turbo, Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera 4S, Carrera S, Targa 4, Targa 4S, GT3, and GT3 RS. Sales for the 911, especially the 911 Carrera S, were brisk during 2007 and 2008. The improved vehicle quality and the classic styling were responsible for the boost in sales.

The restyled 911 Carrera S is equipped with a 3.8-liter six-cylinder engine that utilizes 24 valves. The engine is mated to a N/A six-speed transaxle. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 2007 version.
