When you think of the "Porsche Boxster" what will usually come to mind for Porsche enthusiasts is quality, stability and lots of history. The Boxster has been one of the premier vehicles of the Porsche line for over ten years. It is an important car and the 2005 model is no exception. The Porsche Boxster falls into the convertible for the family category.
The Boxster Base is equipped with a Porsche 2.5 liter six-cylinder engine that utilizes 24 valves. The engine is mated to a Getrag 5-speed Transaxle. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Porsche.
There have been several award-winning cars from Porsche over the years, including the Porsche Boxster of 1997. There are one trim levels to the Boxster, including Base. The Base version is one of the more popular options, outselling other configurations. Like in 1996 the popular 2.5 liter has made this a popular choice for convertible buyers nationwide.
The 2007 Porsche Boxster Base was introduced to compete in the convertible market. The Base is a member of a series of two trim levels for the Boxster which include Base and S. The two-door car with its rear-wheel drive is positioned to aggressively fill this niche for Porsche. There is strong competition from vehicles from Infiniti.
