The 2002 Z3 is an important vehicle to BMW for the convertible market segment. The Roadster is a member of a series of four trim levels for the Z3 which include Coupe, M Coupe, and M Roadster. The two-door car with its rear-wheel drive is positioned to aggressively fill this niche for BMW. There is strong competition from vehicles from Honda.
There's been a lot of talk about the BMW Z3 for 1996. As a leading car in the convertible market the Z3 (and in this case specically the Roadster version) has maintained a high standard. The 2-door Z3 is especially appealing to broad audience, making it a perfect car to help BMW as a brand in general.
