A high point in the convertible market is the Porsche 911. In 2000 Porsche rolled out an upgraded version of the 911 with two versions: Carrera 4. Sales for the 911, especially the 911 Carrera 4, were brisk during 2000 and 2001. The improved reliability and the updated styling were responsible for the increased interest.
The restyled Z3 Roadster is equipped with a 2.5-liter six-cylinder engine that utilizes 24 valves. The engine is mated to a GMC four-speed transmission. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 1999 version.

The M Roadster configuration is powered by the 3.2-liter six-cylinder engine, which makes 26 highway miles and 19 city. The Z3 competes in the Convertible market segment, in direct competition with Hyundai.
