When you think of the "Porsche Cayman" what will usually come to mind for Porsche enthusiasts is quality, stability and lots of history. The Cayman has been one of the premier vehicles of the Porsche line for over ten years. It is an important car and the 2008 model is no exception. 2008 Porsche Cayman S Specs

The restyled Cayman S is equipped with a 3.4-liter six-cylinder engine that utilizes 24 valves. The engine is mated to a N/A five-speed transaxle. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 2007 version.

The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Cayman uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. Load balancing is provided by coil front springs and coil in the rear.

The fuel system for the 2008 Cayman is a Bosch ME-7.8 design, using gasoline fuel. The fuel flow is controlled by a electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The fuel capacity of the fuel tank is 16.90 gallons.

The standard warranty period for the Cayman is 48 months, or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. There is also a warranty on the powertrain for 48 months or 50,000 miles respectively. This is standard in the hatchback market.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $49,400 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-low price. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Hatchback.

Fuel Efficiency

The Cayman S received a miles-per-gallon rating of 19 - 20 in-city driving and 26 - 29 when it came to long-distance. Being a gas-powered non-hybrid car, this was subpar.

The 2007 model began the promise of the Porsche Cayman. The 2008 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Porsche hopes that the Cayman S will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
