The 2004 Audi S4 Cabriolet was introduced to compete in the convertible market. The Cabriolet is a member of a series of three trim levels for the S4 which include Cabriolet, Base, and Avant. With two doors and spacious seating for five, the all-wheel drive S4 makes a statement. There is plenty of competition in the Convertible market, including strong offerings from Infiniti.

Standard equipment in the S4 for 2003 and 2004 includes the 4.2 liter engine by Volkswagen, weighing in at 8 cylinders and fourty valves. A 6-speed Standard Transaxle puts the power of the engine to the pavement. The has proven to be a popular configuration for the S4.

Steering control is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The S4 comes equipped with power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The car uses coil front springs and coil in the rear.

The fuel system for the 2004 S4 is a Bosch ME-7 system, running on gasoline . The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design.

MPG Ratings

The S4 Cabriolet received a miles-per-gallon rating of fifteen in-city driving and twenty one when it came to highway driving. Being a gas-powered non-green car, this was within normal parameters.

In 2003 and 2004 the S4 Cabriolet was availble in the exterior colors of Arctic White, Brilliant Black, Brilliant Red, Dolphin Gray Metallic, Goodwood Green Pearl Effect, Imola Yellow, Light Silver Metallic, Moro Blue Pearl Effect, and Nogaro Blue Pearl Effect. Additional options were available as special orders from the factory.

What We Think of the Audi S4

There are several reasons why the Audi S4 Cabriolet sold well in 2004. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Audi, specifically a S4.
