A Better 1997′s Model: The BMW Z3 for 1998

BMW Z3

There have been several award-winning cars from BMW over the years, including the BMW Z3 of 1998. There are two trim levels to the Z3, including M Roadster. The M Roadster version is one of the more popular options, outselling other configurations. Like in 1997 the popular 3.2 liter has made this a popular choice for convertible buyers across the country.

BMW Z3 Engine Specs

The restyled Z3 M Roadster is equipped with a 3.2-liter six-cylinder engine that utilizes 24 valves. The engine is mated to a ZF five-speed transmission. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 1997 version.

The Z3 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The car uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.

The fuel system for the 1998 Z3 is a traditional Siemens DME MS, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 13.50 gallons.

Vehicle Statistics

The Z3 is 158.50 inches long, 66.60 inches wide, and 50.70 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 96.30 inches. It is able to seat 2 comfortably.

The standard warranty period for the Z3 is 60* months, or 50,000* miles, whichever comes first. There is also a warranty on the powertrain for 36* months or 50,000* miles respectively. This is standard in the convertible market.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $29,425 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $26,015. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Convertible.
