A high point in the sport utility market is the BMW X5. In 2008 BMW released an upgraded version of the X5 with two versions: 4.8i and 3.0si. Sales for the X5, especially the X5 3.0si, were brisk during 2008 and 2009. The improved reliability and the sporty styling were responsible for the sales boost.

BMW X5 Engine Specs

The restyled X5 3.0si is equipped with a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that utilizes 24 valves. The engine is mated to a ZF six-speed transmission. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 2007 version.

What We Think of the BMW X5

The 2007 model began the promise of the BMW X5. The 2008 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers BMW hopes that the X5 3.0si will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
