Not Your Uncle’s S6 – The Audi S6 for 1997

The Audi S6 is a 4-door car available at your Audi dealer. The S6 came in configurations: Base. The Base configuration is powered by the 2.2-liter five-cylinder engine, which makes 30 - 32 highway miles and 21 - 24 city. The S6 competes in the Sedan market segment, in direct competition with Hyundai.

Under the Hood

The restyled S6 Base is equipped with a 2.2-liter five-cylinder engine that utilizes 20 valves. The engine is mated to a Volkswagen five-speed transaxle. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 1996 version.

The S6 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The car uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.

Fuel Efficiency

The fuel system for the 1997 S6 is a traditional Bosch Motronic SFI, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 16.40 gallons.

The S6 Base received a miles-per-gallon rating of 21 - 24 in-city driving and 30 - 32 when it came to highway driving. Being a gas-powered non-hybrid car, this was exceptional.
