Not Your Father’s X3 – The 2007 BMW X3 3.0si

BMW X3

A lot has been said about the BMW X3 for 2007. As BMW's entry in the sport utility market the X3 (and in this case specically the 3.0si version) has maintained a solid reputation. The 4-door X3 is especially appealing to wide market segment, making it a perfect truck to help BMW as a brand in general.

Performance

The X3 3.0si is equipped with a BMW 3.0 liter six-cylinder engine that utilizes 24 valves. The engine is mated to a ZF 6-speed Transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for BMW.

Fuel is handled for the X3 is a Siemens MS 70 design, running on gasoline fuel. The gasoline is handled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 17.70 gallons.

The X3 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The truck uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.

X3 3.0si Statistics

The X3 is 179.90 inches long, 73.00 inches wide, and 66.00 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 110.10 inches. It is able to seat 5 comfortably.

The listed retail price in 2007 (MSRP) was $38,000, with an invoice cost of $34,960. This price is slightly higher than the industry average price for a four-door Sport Utility.

The standard warranty period for the X3 is 48 months, or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. The warranty also includes a warranty on the drivetrain for 48 months or 50,000 miles respectively. This is standard in the sport utility market. Extended warranties are also available through the dealer.

Fuel Efficiency

The X3 3.0si received a miles-per-gallon rating of 18 - 19 in-city driving and twenty six when it came to long-distance. Being a gas-powered non-green truck, this was subpar.

In Summary

The 2006 model began the promise of the BMW X3. The 2007 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers BMW hopes that the X3 3.0si will continue to be a profitable vehicle.

I don’t believe you bought a BMW! They suck!

  2. Anika Brown says:

My spouse purchased mine for the 3.0 liter engine. Plus the 6-gear tranny.

  3. Vern M. says:

I could be mistaken, but I think the photo in this post is actually of a Lexus RX350. I’m pretty sure that’s the case since I can see the emblem on front, and it sure isn’t a BMW logo.
