In 2008 Audi released the S5 Base to the car-buying market. The S5 came in one configurations: Base. The Base configuration is powered by the 4.2-liter eight-cylinder engine, which makes 21 - 22 highway miles and 14 - 16 city. The S5 competes in the Coupe market segment, in direct competition with Toyota.

The S5 Base is equipped with a Volkswagen 4.2 liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 32 valves. The engine is mated to a Volkswagen 6-speed Transaxle. This is a long-standing favorite for buyers in the Coupe arena.

The S5 uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The car uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.

Fuel Efficiency

    No one is going to think that this is going to be a good buy five years from now.

  2. There’s no doubt that Audi is up to it’s old tricks with the S5? I’m hoping next year’s example is improved.
