The 2001 TT is an important vehicle to Audi for the convertible market segment. The Base is a member of a series of one trim levels for the TT which include Base. The two-door car with its front-wheel drive is positioned to aggressively fill this niche for Audi. There is strong competition from vehicles from Infiniti.

Audi TT Engine Specs

The TT Base is equipped with a Volkswagen 1.8 liter four-cylinder engine that utilizes 20 valves. The engine is mated to a Volkswagen 5-speed Transaxle. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Audi.

The fuel system for the 2001 TT is a traditional Bosch Motronic SFI, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 16.30 gallons.

The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The TT uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. Load balancing is provided by coil front springs and coil in the rear.

The standard warranty period for the TT is 48 months, or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. There is also a warranty on the powertrain for 48 months or 50,000 miles respectively. This is standard in the convertible market.

Fuel Efficiency

The TT Base received a miles-per-gallon rating of twenty in-city driving and twenty eight when it came to highway driving. Being a gas-powered non-hybrid car, this was exceptional.

What We Think of the Audi TT

The 2001 model year was telling year for the Audi TT. The introduction of several trim levels (along with the Base version) meant that buyers could find the version that best suited their needs.
