The Targa 4S version is one of the more popular options, outselling other configurations. Like in 2007 the popular 3.8 liter has made this a popular choice for coupe buyers across the country.

The restyled M3 Base is equipped with a 3.2-liter six-cylinder engine that utilizes 24 valves. The engine is mated to a Getrag six-speed transmission. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 2004 version.
